Explanation:

A thermodynamic system is a body of matter and/or radiation, confined in space by walls, with defined permeabilities, which separate it from its surroundings. The surroundings may include other thermodynamic systems, or physical systems that are not thermodynamic systems.

Explanation:

Collection of an extremely large number of atoms or molecules confined within certain boundaries suchthat it has a certain value of pressure (P), volume (V) and temperature (T) is called a thermodynamicsystem. Anything outside the thermodynamic system to which energy or matter is exchanged is calledits surroundings. Taking into consideration the interaction between a system and its surroundingsthermodynamic system is divided into three classes:

(a) Open system:

A system is said to be an open system if it can exchange both energy and matterwith its surroundings.

(b) Closed system:

A system is said to be closed system if it can exchange only energy (not matterwith its surroundings).

(C) Isolated system :

A system is said to be isolated if it can neither exchange energy nor matter withits surroundings.
