Please explain this statement "Cations with(n-1)d 0 ns 0 (typical of transition metal cations) is more polarising than the one with a noble gas configuration,ns 2 np 6 (typical of alkali and alkaline earth metal cations)."

strong alkali metals like sodium, potassium have 1 valence electron while alkaline earth metals like magnesium, calcium have 2 valence electrons; so alkali metals are much more stronger than alkaline earth metals as alkali metals can readily realese 1 valence electron (having low I.P)
