Trial and error method is the method in which we have to assume the values of variable and put it in the equation such that LHS = RHS.

The question u hv posted in this is 1/3y +5 =8.

So first assume the values of y and put it in the equation.

In this, by putting y =9 , it satisfies the equation as LHS = RHS =8.

Therefore 9 is the solution of the equation.

for example

 \frac{1}{3} y + 5 = 8

at first we put the value of Y as 3 but when we did the sums we found that lhs does not match with RHS so after that we put the value of the variable es6 but this time also the value of RHS lhs does not match so after that we put the value AS 9 and this time the elections match with or Asus so we can say that the Y is equals to 9
