basically he's trying to say margot was very pale. If u imagine blonde hair, blue eyes and red lips- you think of them as normal primary colours right but if u say mix water with them- they loose the intensity of the colour, slightly fading. so not as bright as she ought to be

now the photograph - its old meaning again slowly losing colour overtime. she had been taken out of an album and dusted- pale and frail like an old photograph is but just to make her seem more humn-it is whitened

her voice- which she rarely used was light like a ghost- soft and unnoticed, coming whenever and leaving without anyone paying attention

It means that it has been constantly raining in Venus that she felt like she have turned like a feverish well.the rain had washed all her color.-it means that she had already seen the sun and felt it when she was in Ohio but now this rain had washed all her colors and now she stand like a old photograph if she speaks she is full of ghostly voice because she always thinks about the sun and does not speak much in this world.

MORE INFORMATION

That's why in the end when William and all the children had seen the sun. They also felt the same as Margot. Therefore they stood in silence.
