Anaphoric use means when you use something to refer to the party mentioned previously. "The" is used as an anaphora as shown below:
There once lived a bird in the banyan tree. The bird used to feed on the fruits of the banyan tree.
As you can see, "the" is used in the second sentence as the bird and banyan tree have already been mentioned.
