 {y}^{2} -   2ky  + ky  - 2 {k}^{2}  \\ y(y - 2k)  +  k(y - 2k) \\ (y + k)(y -2 k)

y² - ky - 2k²

= y² + ky - 2ky - 2k²

= y(y+k) - 2k(y+k)

=(y+k)(y-2k)

Either,

y+k=0

y= -k

Or,

y-2k= 0

y=2k
