(a) father is responsible because father's chromosomes are 22+XX and 22+XY , whereas mother's chromosomes are 22+XX and 22+XX.

(b) set of chromosomes not present is 44+XY.

(c) sex determination is illegal because if people get to know that the girl child is in the mothers womb then they try to get rid of it also, The 2011 population census in India revealed that there are only 940 females to every 1000 males in India. The sex ratio is highly skewed in the western Indian states of Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan, hence sex determination is illegal.
