3 floors in the basement each of height = 5 m

25 floors above the ground each of height 5 m are = 25×5 = 125 m in total height.

The Man is 50 m above the ground level i.e = 125-50 = 75m.

75÷5=15 i.e 25-10=15. That means the Man is on the 10th floor.

The lift travels at a rate of 1 m/s.

The man has to cross 12 floors; (10 floors on the upper ground and 2 floors in the basement)

One floor = 5 m in height

Time taken to travel for one floor is 5m/1m/s

= 5 seconds

Therefore, Time taken to travel 12 floors by the Man is

= 12×5 = 60 seconds i.e 1 minute
