1)Add Zinc granules to a flask, over it add dilute hydrochloric acid.

2)Now, observe the bubbles of gas emerging from the flask.

3)Bring a burning splinter to the mouth of the flask and you will observe that the gas burns with a characteristic pop sound, on bringing moist litmus close to the mouth of the flask, it does not change colour, proving that the gas is neutral and is hydrogen gas.
