The numbers so that after they are filled in the boxes , they fulfill all the equations .

Solution :

Let four variables be w, x , y and z .

in clockwise direction ,

w + x = 8    ......(i)

x + y = 8     ......(ii)

z - y = 6      .......(iii)

w + z = 13    .......(iv)

by solving the equations (i) and (ii) , we get ,

→ w = y

using w=y in (iii) and (iv) , and solving it ,

z = 9.5

and , y = 3.5

as w = y , then , w = 3.5

putting w = 3.5 in (i) ,

x = 4.5

w = 3.5 , x = 4.5 , y = 3.5 and z = 9.5 clockwise from top left corner according to viewer .
