Ammeter :- deivce used to measure current

  • ammeter is connected in series
  • effective resistance in a series connection is more

Voltmeter :- device used to check potential difference

  • voltmeter is connected parallely
  • effective resistance in a parallel connection is less

due to these reasons resistance of ammeter is very small and that of voltmeter is very large
