The area of a parallelogram is length* height. Therefore, we can see that CY and AX are the heights to AD and CD respectively.

CD=9cm

                  -Opp. sides of a ||gm are equal.

AD=5cm

AX*9=11 1/4 cm2

AX = 45/4 cm2 / 9

AX= 45/36

AX= 5/4 cm

Now for CY, CY* 5 == 11 1/4

CY = 11 1/4 cm2 / 5

CY = 45/4 / 5

CY= 9/4 cm
