Wavelength of light in water = 4000A°

wavelength of light in glass = 2500A°

To find - Refractive index of glass with respect to water

Solution -

\mu = \frac{ \lambda(1)}{ \lambda(2)}μ=

λ(2)

λ(1)

then substituting the values we get

\mu = \frac{4000}{2500}μ=

2500

4000

therefore Refractive index of glass is

\mu(g) = 1.6μ(g)=1.6
