Answer :

Equivalent of series is given by

  • R = R₁ + R₂ + ... + Rₙ

Equivalent of parallel is given by

  • 1/R = 1/R₁ + 1/R₂ + ... + 1/Rₙ

A] Equivalent resistance between C and D :

We won't consider R₁ and R₆ as it is not part of the circuit for this case.

R₂, R₃ and R₄ are connected in series. So their resistance will be 3 + 3 + 3 = .

After solving, 9Ω and R₅ come in parallel.

➙ 1/R = 1/9 + 1/R₅

➙ 1/R = 1/9 + 1/3

➙ 1/R = 4/9

➙ R = 9/4

R = 2.25 Ω

B] Equivalent resistance between A and B :

After solving first question, equivalent of 2.25 Ω, R₁ and R₆ come in series. So net equivalent resistance will be

➙ Rₙ = 2.25 + R₁ + R₆

➙ Rₙ = 2.25 + 3 + 3

Rₙ = 8.25 Ω
