Let the ninth person’s expenditure be Rs.[math]x[/math].

Now, the average expenditure =[math]\dfrac{(8*12) + x}{9} [/math]

But, now, its given that
[math]x = average + 8[/math]

[math]=> x = \dfrac{8*12 + x}{9} + 8 [/math]

[math]=> x = \dfrac{96 + x}{9} + \dfrac{72}{9} [/math]

[math]=> x = \dfrac{96+x+72}{9} [/math]

[math]=> x = \dfrac{168}{9} + \dfrac{x}{9} [/math]

[math]=> x - \dfrac{x}{9} = \dfrac{168}{9} [/math]

[math]=> \dfrac{8x}{9} = \dfrac{168}{9} [/math]

[math]=> 8x = 168[/math]

[math]=> x = 21[/math]

[math]=> total[/math] [math]money = 8*12 + 21 = 117[/math] (that’s your answer)
