Area of plot =
 \frac{total \: cost}{rate \: per \: m {}^{2} }
Area =720000/600
=1200 m²
So, area = length × breadth
1200=40×b
b=30 m

cost of land per m^2=600rs
total cost of land=720000rs

land we buy with 600rupees =1m^2
land we can buy with 1rupee =1÷600m^2
land we can buy with 720000rupees
=720000×1÷600
=1200m^2

now,we know that it is a rectangular plot so we will have to use the formula( length × breadth )
to find the area of the plot
length of the plot=40m
breadth of plot= X m

so,
length × breadth =area of the rectangular plot
40m × X=1200m^2
X=(1200m^2)÷40m
X=30m

hope it helps...............
