Given : Mean of five numbers = 27.

We know that Sum = Average/Total number.

Then, Sum of five numbers = 5 * 27 = 135.

Given that if one number is excluded then means gets reduced by 2.

Let the number that is excluded be 'x'.

Hence, the sum of 4 numbers become 135 - x.

Now,

Mean = (135 - x)/4

⇒ (27 - 2) = (135 - x)/4

⇒ 25 * 4 = 135 - x

⇒ 100 = 135 - x

⇒ 100 - 135 = -x

⇒ x = 35.

Therefore, the excluded number = 35.

Hope this helps!
