☆Points to note before solving:

  1. draw the free body diagram of given system.
  2. only single string is present, so same tension throughout and the blocks will also have the same acceleration.
  3. F_(net) = F_(driving) – F_(opposing) = ma

☆Solution

For 40 kg block

\ 40gsin30\degree - T = 40a

\ 20g - T = 40a ---------(1)

For 30 kg block

\ T - 30gsin30\degree = 30a

\ T - 15g = 30a ----------(2)

•Adding equation 1 and 2

20g - 15g = 70a

\rightarrow\sf a = \dfrac{5g}{70}

• Now, put the value of 'a' in 2nd eq.

\sf T - 15g = 30\times \dfrac{5g}{70}

\sf T - 15g =  \dfrac{15g}{7}

\sf T =  \dfrac{15g}{7} + 15g

\sf T = (\dfrac{15}{7} + 15)g

\sf T =  \dfrac{120}{7}9.8

\sf T =  120\times 1.4

\bf T =  168\: N ----
