Static electricity A stationary electric charge, typically produced by friction, which causes sparks or crackling or the attraction of dust or hair. Induction The process or action of bringing about or giving rise to something. Conduction The process by which heat or electricity is directly transmitted through the material of a substance when there is a difference of temperature or of electrical potential between adjoining regions, without movement of the material.
