(1.) When zinc granules react with the diluted sulphuric acid, hydrogen gas and zinc sulphide are formed.

Characteristics of this chemical reaction:

  1. Change in temperature, that's why it is an exothermic reaction.
  2. Evolution of hydrogen gas that's why this reaction is also a reduction reaction.

Reaction Zn (s) + H2SO4 (aq) ZnSO4 (aq)+ H2 (g)

(2.) When potassium iodide solution to lead nitrate solution, yellow precipitates of lead iodide are formed and the colour of the solution changes from colourless to yellow.

Characteristics of this chemical reaction:

  1. Formation of precipitate that's why it is called Double displacement reaction.
  2. Change in colour.

Reaction2KI (aq) + Pb(NO3 ) (aq) → PbI2 (↓) + 2 KNO3 (aq)
