Multiply (1) by 5 we get , 15x + 35y = 230

multiply (2) by 3 we get , 15x + 12y = 138

15x + 35y = 230

15x + 12y = 138

y = 92/23

= 4

Put value of y = 4 in any one of the above equation .

Note : it is not necessary to put the value of x or y in first equation only you can put it in any equation to get the required solution .

let me take (1) equation .

we get , 3x + 7y = 46

3x + 7(4) = 46

3x + 28 = 46

3x = 46 - 28

x = 18 / 3

x = 6

Hence , y = 4

x = 6
