Area of octagon is Area of trapezium CDEF + trapezium ABGH + rectangle BCGF
= 2*Ar(CDEF)+Ar(ABGH) (Since CDEF and ABGH have similar measures)
= [tex] 2( \frac{a+b}{2}*h)+2(l+b) = 2( \frac{a+b}{2}*h + (l+b)) = 2( \frac{5+12}{2}*6+(12+5)) [/tex]
