When raisins are kept in water, the water from the surrounding diffuses into the raisins and the raisins swell up.

The process of absorption of water by raisins and swelling up is called osmosis.

Osmosis is the movement of solvent molecules from a region of their higher concentration to a region of their lower concentration through a semipermeable membrane.

Hope it helps you!!
