Defination-The bending of light when passes from one medium to another one.

Cause of refraction-Refraction occurs because different medium having different refractive index.

Note-Refractive index means the tendency of a medium to bend the light.

speed of light is different in different medium. So as light enters from one medium to another it changes it's path (bent towards normal or away from normal). That's why refraction occurs.
