A Telugu movie titled “Lava Kusha (Lava Kusa) “ was first produced in 1934. It was a musical drama. The story comes from Uttara Ramayana with the main characters being Lava and Kusa. They are the twin sons of Sri Rama and Sita.
It was directed by Chittajalu Pullayya. The writer of the story line was Ramana Murthy. Music was composed by Prabhala Satyanarayana. It was produced by Bajranglal Khameka. Some songs were written by Vallabhajosyula Ramana Murthy. Singers included Parupalli Satyanarayana.
Parepalli Subba Rao acted as Sri Rama. Sri Ranjani Senior was casted as Seeta. Lava and Kusa were portrayed by Master Bhima Rao and Master Malleswara Rao. Further, brothers of Rama were enacted by Parepalli Satyanarayana and Bhushana Sastry (I guess). I am not sure, if one of these acted as Maharshi Valmiki.
It was a full length movie in black and white. The duration was for 2 hours and 45 minutes.
In 1934 a Tamil film was also produced with the same title.
