A.P. consist of a series in which the difference between their two number is Same.
For example:-1. 1,2,3,4,......
2. 1,3,5,7,......
3. 1,4,7,10,....

Introduction

A.P is the short form of Arithmetic progression .

A.P is nothing but a sequence or series with some common properties .

A series or sequence is a group of numbers .

For example :

1 , 4 , 9 , .............. upto a certain limit .

The above is an example of a series .

Similarly these are in series :

2 . 5 . 6 . 1 . 7 . ..

4 . 3 . 2 . 1 . 6 . ...

Now all series are not A.P . Here is what is called A.P :

The A.P is a series where there is a common difference between all terms :

For example : 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 .... are in A.P because :

3 - 2 = 1

4 - 3 = 1

5 - 4 = 1

Hence the next term can be obtained by adding the value 1 .

Here the common difference is 1 .

For example :

1 , 3 , 5 , 7 is in A.P because :

3 - 1 = 2

5 - 3 = 2

7 - 5 = 2

Hence the difference is same !

The series is not in A.P if difference is not same .

For example :

4 , 6 , 2 , 8 , 9 ,...

4 - 6 = - 2

2 - 6 = - 4

8 - 2 = - 6

9 - 8 = 1

Hence this is not A.P .

There are advanced things about this .

For example finding the nth term of A.P , finding the Sum of A.P , etc .
