flooding it is an common natural disaster,which occurs when rivers burst its banks and the water spills out onto the flood plain .It is far more to happen when their is a great deal of heavy rain,so during very wet periods floods warning are often  put in place.Their are other risk factors  for flooding too:
steep sided channels cause fast surface run -off ,while a lack of vegetation or woodland to both break the flow of water and drink the water, means that their is little to slow the flood water down .Draining basins of imperiable rock also cause the water to run faster uver the surface
