Case 1:


If  "a" is a negative integer example: -2

-1*-2=2  So for an negative integer -1*(-a)=a

Case 2:

If "a" is a positive integer -1*a=-a

Case 3:

If "a" =0  then -1*a=0

For any integer a,what is (-1)×a equal to

If a is positive integer,

(-1) × a = -a

If a is negative integer,

(-1) × (-a) = +a

If a is equal to zero,

(-1) × 0 = 0
