  • Length is 47cm

  • Breadth is 33cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

  • The length of the rectangle exceeds the width by 14cm

that is,

length = Breadth + 14cm

  • Perimeter of the rectangle is 160cm

To find:-

  • Length of the rectangle

  • Width or breadth of the rectangle

Solution:-

Let the length of the rectangle be l

let the breadth of the rectangle be b

Formula:-

Perimeter of a rectangle= 2(l+b)

Perimeter= 2(l+b)

160cm = 2[(b+14)+b]

[given that perimeter is 160cm & l = b +14]

=> 160cm = 2[ 2b +14]

2b + 14 =  \frac{160}{2}  =  > 2b = 80 - 14

2b = 66

b =  \frac{66}{2}

b = 33cm

\huge\mathcal{\green{Now,}}

length = b + 14cm

\huge\mathcal{\green{Therefore,}}

length is 33cm + 14cm = 47cm.
