Question-

A train 100m long is to cross a river bridge of length 800 m what time will it take to cross the bridge give the train moves with the constant speed of 36km/h?

Given-

☛length of the train= 100m

☛length of the bridge = 800m

☛Speed = 36km/h

To Find-

☛Time Taken by the train ?

Formula to be used-

\boxed{\bf{s= \dfrac{d}{t} }}

where,

s= speed

d= distance

t= time

Solution-

☛At first change speed km/h to m/s

we know,

1 km = 1000 m

1 hr= 3600 s

so,

\sf{\implies 1km/h= \dfrac{1000m}{3600s} = \dfrac{5m}{18s} }

from this

\sf {\implies 36 km/h = \dfrac{5}{18} \times 36 m/s}

Speed = 10 m/s

Now,

☛Put the value of speed and distance in given formula

(Here Total distance = 900 m because 100 m of train crosses along 800 m bridge , so Total distance = length of bridge + length of train = 800+100 = 900 m)

\sf{ \implies 10 = \dfrac{900 }{t} }

\sf{\implies 10\times t = 900}

\sf{\implies t = \dfrac{900}{10} }

\sf {\implies t= 90}

\bf{\underline{\pink{ \therefore Train \ takes \ 90 \ sec \ to \ cross \ the \ bridge. }}}
