Mid point theorem states that when a line passes through the mid point of one side of a triangle and is parallel to the second side, it passes through the mid point of the third side as well.

So in this question, since EF is parallel to AB and E is the mid point of AD, F is the mid point of BC.

BC=6 cm

Hence, BF=1/2 of BC

BF=1/2 of 6

BF=3 cm

Option (a) 3cm is the correct answer.
