An element X has atomic number as 17 so it is chlorine and element Y has atomic number as 20 so it is calcium..
(a)X belongs to Group 17 and 3rd Period.
Y belongs to Group 2 and 4th Period.
(b)X+Y=XY
So, Cl+Ca=CaCl
