3.In the line BX or AX,mark a point C,which is 5cm from A or B(If you have made AX,take from A and if you have made BX,take from B.)You will get either AC or BX as per you line you have chosen.

4.Join C with the other point.(if you have got AC,make BC and vice versa)

That's it you have made the equilateral triangle.
