Answer:

9. x=a,y=b

x+y=6 and x-y=2

= a+b=6,a-b=2

a+b-6=a-b-2

a+b-a+b=6-2

2b=4

b=2

so, a=4

10. for finding the value of k we first find the value of x and y.

so think, x = 1

then the equation will become

6(1) - 12y = 9

further on calculation, we get

6 - 12y = 9

-12y = 9 -6

y = 1/-4

on solution we get x = 1 and y = 1/-4

on putting the value in equation we get

k(1) - 4(1/-4) =3

k + 1 = 3

k = 3 - 1

k = 2

so k = 2 has infinite number of solutions
