Explanation:

If you apply pressure on these three states of matter the solid and liquid states are not compressed easily but gases can be compressed easily. It is because of the reason that in solids the particles are closely packed by the strong attraction forces comparatively stronger than in liquids. The gases are easily compressible because of the reason that, the particles are loosely held by each other by the weak attraction forces.

Answer:

Object: to show difference in the attractive forces between the particles of different matters.

Materials required: a piece of chalk, an ice cube and an iron nail.

Procedure: beat separately the piece of chalk, ice cube and iron nail with hammer.

Observations: we find that it is very easy to break the piece of chalk, it requires more force to break ice cube, whereas iron nail does not break at all.

Conclusion: the activity suggests that particles of matter have attractive force acting between them. The force of attraction between the particles of chalk is very weak, the force of attraction between the particles of ice cube is a bit stronger and the force of attention between the particles of iron nail is very, very strong.
