If a number X divides 257 and 329 leaving a remainder of 5 for both, then X must evenly divide each of those numbers minus 5

What is the greatest common divisor (GCD) of 252 and 324? Use the Euclidean algorithm. 324 – 252 = 72 So X is the GCD of 324 and 252

Now 252– 72 = 180

And 180 – 72 = 18

And 18 divides 72 evenly.

So X = 18 is the answer
