↪ Basic Structure for naming accepted by IUPAC
SECONDARY PREFIX+ PRIMARY PREFIX + ROOT WORD + PRIMARY SUFFIX + SECONDARY SUFFIX
✡ If the compound contains any branch then the name of branch would be considered as prefix .
There are two kinds of prefix -- primary prefix and secondary prefix .
✡ If the compound contains any functional group (including alkane , alkyne , alkene) then the name of functional group would be considered as suffix .
There are two kinds of prefix -- primary suffix and secondary suffix
✡ Generally , root words are the number of carbons in the compound
For 1 Carbon -- Meth is the root word
For 2 Carbon -- Eth
For 3 Carbon -- Prop
For 4 Carbon --- But
Etc....
