Properties of Diamagnetic

substance :

1. A dimegnetic substance is feebly repelled by a magnet.

2. When a rod of diamagnetic substance is suspended by a megnetic feild it slowly sets itself at right angles to the direction of the felid.

3. If a dimegnetic liquid contained in a watch glass on two closely spaced pole-pieces of a magnet, it suffers a slight depression in the middle. However the liquid shows a rise in the middle, when the pole pieces are moved apart.

4. For a dimegnetic substance, the intensity of magnetisation (I) has a small negative value.

5. When a dimegnetic material is placed inside a magnetic field, the magnetic field lines become slightly less dense in the diamagnetic material.

6. When a dimegnetic substance is placed inside a magnetising field, the magnetic induction or magnetic flux density in the diamagnetic substance is lesser than that in vacuum.
