metals above hydrogen are highly active metals

most active is pottasium

least active is silver

for example :zinc is placed above hydrogen in the activity series, it can displace hydrogen from its solution

but copper is placed below hydrogen so it cannot displace hydrogen

metals placed below hydrogen are less active metals so it cannot displace hydrogen from its solution
