Given- speed of the boat is 5km/hr
Let the speed of the boat be x km/hr and the distance is 40km
Speed in upstream will be 5-x km/h and speed in downstream will be 5+x km /h
So time in upstream will be=40/5-x and time in downstream will be=40/5+x
We are given that 3(40/5+x)=40/5-x
Solving the equation we get x=2.5km/h
