Three important aspects:

Plot/Story

This is an absolute requirement - Or else the whole film won’t make any sense if there is no story to it. Three things need to remember when making a story. An introduction to familiarize the setting, character and its intention of reaching the goal. The middle story has a conflict, it prevent the character from reaching the goal — therefore, a character has to resolve their way through/around the barrier. The ending story that complete the goal. That’s it.

Number of shots

Capture as many shots as possible in different angle in the same setting. Do not film the same shot for more than 5 seconds. If it pass more than 5 seconds, change the angle to somewhere else. Keep doing this — create as many angles as possible.

Location

Capture as many different location as possible, more than 3 locations are ideal. It is preferable that you are able to capture each abstractly — for example, a room that happen to be completely white, and another room that are blue. Don’t worry about the meaning of the room or the setting — it’s important that each different location has a very different background than each other.

Try and avoid filming on school setting or home setting. Unless the story belongs to those settings then that’s fine.

That’s pretty much the only three things that will strengthen your film.
