Question:

A paper box without a lid 25/100 m long, 16/100 m wide and 5/100 m deep. How many square centimetre of paper been used to make the box.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that length is 25/100 m, breadth is 16/100 m and height is 5/100 m.

To convert m into cm. Multiply the given value by 100.

Therefore,

  • length = 25/100 × 100 = 25 cm
  • breadth = 16/100 × 100 = 16 cm
  • height = 5/100 × 100 = 5 cm

Total area of paper box = (lb) + 2(bh) + 2(hl)

Substitute the values,

→ (25*16) + 2(16*5) + 2(5*25)

→ 400 + 2(80) + 2(125)

→ 400 + 160 + 250

→ 810 cm²

Hence, the 810 cm² of paper been used to make the box.
