Average speed = Total Distance/Total Time.

and

Distance = time × speed

first calculate the individual distance travelled .

time1 = 20s, speed1= 6m/s

so Distance1= 20×6= 120m,

similarly Distance2 = 20 × 8= 160m,

Distance3= 20×10m.

Total distance covered= Distance1+ Distance2+ Distance3 = 120+ 160+200= 480m

Total Time taken = Time1 + time2+ time3= 20+ 20 + 20= 60 s

now

Average speed = Total Distance/Total Time

= 480/60

= 8 m/s.
