ans i] because there is no medium and since sound is a mechanical wave it needs a medium to travel so that is why speed of sound is 0 in C.

ans ii] solid- as the molecules of solid are closer, sound travels faster

ans iii] B could be air

Answers:

  1. Speed of sound in medium C is 0 m/s because that medium is vaccum. Sound is a mechanical wave, thus it needs a medium to travel, hence, sound can't travel through vaccum.
  2. Most probable physical state of medium A is solid. In solids, sound travels the fastest as the molecules are tightly packed and located close to each other. Speed of sound in iron (solid) is 5000 m/s and 3000 m/s is closer to that, so we can say the given medium A is solid.
  3. Medium B can be air. This is because sound travels slowest in air, but its speed can't be 0 m/s. Speed of sound in air is 340 m/s which is near to 330 m/s.
