Question :

A current of 1 A is drawn by a filament of an electric bulb. Number of electrons passing through a cross section of the filament in 16 seconds would be ?

______________________________

Given :

  • Current (I) = 1 Ampere
  • Time interval (t) = 16 s

To Find :

  • Number of electrons passing through bulb

Solution :

We know that,

⇒I = Q/ t

Where,

  • I is current
  • Q is charge
  • t is time

⇒Q = IT

⇒Q = 1*16

⇒Q = 16

\therefore Charge of the bulb is 16 C

________________________________

Now, use formula for quantization of charges :

⇒Q = ±ne

⇒16 = n * ( 1.6 * 10^{-19})

⇒n = 16/(1.6 * 10^{-19})

⇒n = 16/(16 * 10^{-20})

⇒n = 1/10^(-20)

⇒n = 10^(20)

\therefore Number of electrons passing through bulb are \sf{10 ^{20}}
