GIVEN THAT

Perimeter of the rectangular room = 64.

The length of the room is thrice its

breadth.

TO FIND

length and breadth of the room

FORMULA USED

Perimeter of rectangle = 2 ( L + B )

SOLUTION

Let the breadth be x. Then,

the length be 3x.

Perimeter of the rectangular room =

2(L + B)

2 ( 3x + x ) = 64

2 × 4x = 64

8x = 64

x = 64

8

x = 8

Now,

Breadth of the room = x = 8

Length of the room = 3x = 3 × 8 = 24

PROVE

We know, perimeter of rectangle =

2(L + B)

= 2 (24 + 8) = 64

= 2 × 32 = 64

64 = 64

Hence, proved
