1. Define the following :-

(a)Heredity :- Heredity, also called inheritance or biological inheritance, is the passing on of traits from parents to their offspring; either through asexual reproduction or sexual reproduction, the offspring cells or organisms acquire the genetic information of their parents

(b)Variation :- Variation is the differences between individuals within a species. This can be caused by inherited or environmental factors. Variation can be continuous or discontinuous. Biology.

(c)DNA :- DNA is a molecule composed of two polynucleotide chains that coil around each other to form a double helix carrying genetic instructions for the development, functioning, growth and reproduction of all known organisms and many viruses. DNA and ribonucleic acid (RNA) are nucleic acids.

(d)Chromosomes :- Chromosomes are thread-like structures located inside the nucleus of animal and plant cells. Each chromosome is made of protein and a single molecule of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA).

(e)Trait :- A trait is a specific characteristic of an organism. Traits can be determined by genes or the environment, or more commonly by interactions between them

(f)Gene :- A gene is the basic physical and functional unit of heredity. Genes are made up of DNA.Alleles are forms of the same gene with small differences in their sequence of DNA bases.
