GIVE REASON :-
a) Even though Al is highly reactive metal, it is still used for making cooking vessels.
b) Generally Sulphide ores are converted into oxides during the process of extraction.

a)Al is a strong and cheap metal. It is also a good conductor of heat. But it is highly reactive.When it is exposed to moist air,its surface get covered with a thin layer of aluminum oxide.This layer doesn't allow the moist air to come in contact with the fresh metal and hence protects the metal underneath from further damage or corrosion.Thus after the formation of this protective layer,Al becomes resistant to corrosion.It is because of this reason that though Al is a highly reactive metal ,it is still used to make utensils for cooking.
b)Direct reduction of sulphide ore to obtain metal is not possible.However it is much easier to get metal by reduction of their oxides.Therefore,prior to reduction sulphide ores are converted into their oxides by the process of roasting
