Mass of skier (m) = 60 kg

Initial height (h1) = 75 m

Final height (h2) = 15 m

(a) Loss in potential energy = mg(h1–h2)

= 60 × 10 × (75-15)

= 60 × 10 × 60

=3.6 × 10 ⁴ J

(b) Kinetic energy at B

= (75/ 100) 3.6 ×10 ⁴

= 2.7 × 104 J

We know:

K.E = 1/2mv²

⇒ 27000 = 1/2 × 60 × v²

v² =. 27000×2/ 60

= 90

∴ v = 30 m/s
