1. The rays AO and OB are incident ray and reflected ray and the point O is known as point of incidence. ON is the normal and i is the angle of incidence and r is the reflection.

2. (i) The two laws of reflection of light are:- The incident ray,the normal and the point of incidence and the reflected ray all lie in the same plane and

(ii) The angle of incidence (i) is always equal to the angle of reflection.

3. Regular reflection: When a parallel beam of light falls on a mirror (plane or curved), each ray of light is reflected from the mirror according to the laws of reflection. It is called regular reflection.

Irregular reflection:- When a parallel beam of light falls on an object,such as wall,floor,paper,etc. ,the rays of light are reflected in all the possible directions. Such a reflection is called diffuse reflection.
